I’m trying to find an eSSD that makes gaming portable. A lot of articles, including this one, state that they are possible, but I tried several eSSDs and they are just not as good as internal SSD. Maybe for emulated psp roms (https://www.emugames.net/playstation-portable-roms/), but not for games like Starfield. The USB3 just limits the transfer speed way too much that it’s not a viable option for gamers.

Very dissapointed in all of these options. You drop a spinning rust drive and you get a non spinning rust paper weight. Also transfer speeds aren’t good. Where are the SSD drives like the Crucial (at least 3 models) fast transfer well rated and varying speed and price levels depending on budget and need. WD is having serious issues with one of it’s SSD portables. So do your research.

Hi , I like reading your articles. While on the topic of remote control, do you have an article on controlling desktops from a desktop? I used to use Teamviewer on Linux to control various windows and mac computers, I had a licensed version of Teamviewer, but I got fed up with Teamviewer because they constantly pestered the remote user to update their version of Teamviewer, and that would break things for me because my licensed version would cease to work to control updated versions of Teamviewer. I started to look for alternatives, and found RustDesk, runs on linux, I can control windows & macOS.

That is an oxymoron. If you need a “paid option” to get something “free” then it is NOT FREE.

So, it may not cost anything in cash but one pays through Google harvesting one’s data. To some, ;like me, that is not free.

FYI, I believe launchd sends a SIGTERM to any process your script starts (e.g., $ nohup …). I added a sleep at the end of my script to allow emails my script sends to complete their connection with SMTP.

After 3 years of being capped at 100/100 i had no idea why my ethernet was not getting the speed I was paying for (1 GB). thought it was a faulty cable, or internet provider issue. Turns out the fix was under the advanced settings you laid out.. under “speed and duplex. set it to auto and now getting the full 1000/1000 speed. 3 years trying to find the answer and you solved it for me. I hope you are having the best day ever. I love you

I think a better backup AND sync program is FreeFileSync. I have tried pretty well all backup programs/apps and found them wanting in different ways. Most of the time, I just use “Copy To” because it was the best. Recently, however, I found FreeFileSync and it seems to out shine ALL the rest – at least, so far. It was pretty easy to set up/configure but it DOES look challenging at first glance. Also, if you do use it, don’t be shocked by the estimated time given on the display. Not sure how they actually estimate the time but it does NOT take as long as estimated.

Not sure what you meant by that URL you included — it doesn’t go anywhere and gives a DNS error. Also, Kik and Twitch aren’t exactly comparable to Omegle. They’re completely different platforms in terms of setup and what they are focused on. Twitch is for live streaming, so more like TikTok or similar streaming platforms. Kik is more of an alternative to WhatsApp or other texting platforms.

In reply to John Tagarean. Unfortunately, Camgo requires you to create a login and the "interests" aren't really interests, but rather what you're looking for in a person to talk to. The requirement to provide an email address alone makes it far less anonymous than other options on this list.

Besides the iClever, what other keyboards are both foldable and have backlighting? Please clearly highlight the backlighting feature when reviewing because not having backlight is a deal breaker for some people, myself included.

This is why I buy a waterproof cell phone (current one can be submerged 1.5-meters for 10 minutes). It is just an ounce of prevention, and during Covid, I was able to wash it with soap and water then dry it.
