Nothing’s more frustrating than having to deal with outside noises when you’re in the middle of a great gaming session. The EKSA E1000 WT True 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset helps you shut out the world to better immerse yourself in the game. I recently got to try this headset to see just how well it sounds and performs.

Overview of Features

Unlike most wireless gaming headsets, the EKSA E1000 WT True 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset doesn’t use Bluetooth. Instead, it uses a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, thanks to a USB dongle, on compatible devices. This allows you to receive lossless audio without annoying lag. In comparison, audio latency is less than 30 milliseconds with true wireless, while Bluetooth averages 100 milliseconds.

The wireless feature is only available on desktops and laptops with a USB-A port and PS4/PS5 via USB. However, you can connect via a 3.5 mm audio cable on mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One S/X, and PS4/PS5. When connected with the cable, the lights turn off, and you can’t mute the mic with the one-touch button.

Enjoy every single sound thanks to plug and play 7.1 surround sound and Hi-Fi audio. It feels as if you’re actually in the game and able to pinpoint footsteps and other sounds. Plus, the 50 mm drivers give you improved bass and sub-bass.

You can easily turn the SoundBase surround on and off as needed. If you’re using a Windows PC, download the SoundBase software directly from EKSA to customize your sound.

Not only do the headphones cut out most sounds around you, the mic cuts out environmental noise by up to 96 percent, thanks to Voice Pure ENC. Easily hear everything your team’s saying so that you don’t miss any important moments.

With the stunning RGB dazzlights off, the headset lasts up to 36 hours. However, get up to three hours of use from just a 10 minute charge. Or, charge it fully in just 2.5 hours.

Exploring the Headset

The headset comes with a lengthy 3.5 mm audio cable, a USB-C charging cable, USB dongle, instruction manual, carrying bag, and the headset itself. Thick, cushioned ear pads and a cushioned headband ensure comfort during longer gaming sessions.

The mic placement adjusts easily and folds out of the way when not in use. It’s not removable.

All of your controls are on the left earpiece. Quickly adjust the volume with the volume wheel. Turn your mic on and off with the ENC button. Power the headset on and off, pair with devices, and turn the lights on/off with the multi-function button. The 3.5 mm port is just below the buttons.

The only thing you have on the right side is the USB-C charging port.

Getting Started With the Headset

I tested the EKSA E1000 WT True 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset on a Windows 11 PC, an Android phone, and a Nintendo Switch. I started with the PC so that I could test out the wireless functionality.

I plugged in the USB dongle as instructed, powered up the headset, and nothing happened. I tried holding the power button, but still nothing happened. I checked all my settings on my PC, and the headset was recognized for both audio and the mic.

Despite following the instructions in the manual, the instructions for pairing the headset with the PC aren’t complete until you look at the troubleshooting section. You have to connect the dongle, turn on the headset, turn it back off, then hold the power button for six seconds until you hear “pairing.” I really feel this step should be in the main instructions.

With that little obstacle out of the way, it was time to test the headset. I started without the surround sound on. It was pretty much as expected. While you could hear well enough, it was just kind of bland.

Once I turned the surround sound on, it was a world of difference. I couldn’t hear anything else going on around me. Every minute detail of every game I tried was crystal clear. While I can sometimes notice lag with Bluetooth headsets, I never noticed anything with this one.

I had the same experience listening to music on my Android phone and playing several games on my Nintendo Switch. I have to admit, the 3.5 mm cable is definitely long enough to give you room to move without it being in the way.

Using the Mic

If the EKSA E1000 WT True 2.4 GHz Wireless Gaming Headset is turned on when you connect it via the 3.5 mm cable, you’ll hear the the mic is turned off. If you turn the headset off, then connect it, you can use the mic with no problem. Just remember, in the wired mode, you can’t use the mic mute button. You have to turn the mic off in your device’s settings instead.

I tried blasting music and the TV while chatting with friends using the mic. All they could hear was an occasional mumble from all the extra noise. I could hear them easily. I could see this being a great headset for taking calls in loud environments, too.

Surround Sound Hub Software

The software is free to download and gives you four preset sound profiles for gaming and six for music. You’re also free to create your own custom profile.

It’s a simple app to use. As soon as you install it and connect the headset, all of the controls are available.
